Etisalat-branded Wi-Fi routers can be found in homes and commercial buildings across the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and other countries in the Middle East, Asia, and Africa.

If you rely on an Etisalat router for wirelessly connecting to the internet, then it’s a good idea to change the default Wi-Fi password. You should also change it if you suspect that someone you don’t trust might have it or as a way how to quickly and easily disconnect all connected devices.

Regardless of what your reasons for wanting to change your Etisalat Wi-Fi password are, all you need to do is follow the steps below.

Prerequisites

To successfully change your Etisalat Wi-Fi password, you need to meet the following prerequisites:

  • The computer you’ll use to change the password must be connected to your Etisalat router using an Ethernet cable.
  • You need to know the router’s IP address and the admin username and password. This information should be printed on a sticker located somewhere on the router itself.

Steps For Changing Your Etisalat Wi-Fi Password

  1. Open a web browser on the computer that’s connected to your Etisalat router using an Ethernet cable.
  2. Type the following IP address in the URL bar and hit “Enter” on your keyboard: 192.168.1.1
  3. Log in with the admin username and password (the default admin/admin combination usually works).
  4. Click the “Advanced” button to see all available settings.
  5. Select the “Wireless” category from the left pane.
  6. Go to “wlan2” (2.4GHz) and then “Security”.
  7. Use the “Pre-Shared Key” (PSK) field to change your Wi-Fi password.
  8. Click “Apply Changes” to restart your wireless network and force all connected devices to reconnect using the new password.

Make sure the new password is at least 8 characters long and sufficiently complex. Ideally, you want it to include lowercase and uppercase characters, numbers, and special symbols. If you find random passwords difficult to remember, then you can also use a very long passphrase consisting of multiple randomly selected words, or a password manager to help you remember it in the future.

Should anything go wrong as a result of the password change, you can restart your Etisalat router to its factory settings by pressing and holding the physical reset button for 10-15 seconds (until the router’s LED indicator lights start flashing).

Alternatively, you can get in touch with Etisalat directly via phone and have their customer support agents help guide you through the process of changing your password.
